Cyprus Computational Science Symposium

The Convergence of Physics-based Modeling with Data-driven Methods

The Cyprus Institute and the University of Cyprus Announce the Cyprus Computational Science Symposium (CONVERGE)

The Cyprus Institute and the University of Cyprus are pleased to announce the Cyprus Computational Science Symposium: The Convergence of Physics-based Modeling with Data-driven Methods (CONVERGE), taking place on February 26–27, 2026, at the new buildings of the Engineering School of the University of Cyprus in Nicosia.

The symposium is jointly organized by the Computation-based Science & Technology Research Center (CaSToRC) of the Cyprus Institute and the Computational Sciences Lab at the University of Cyprus. CONVERGE aims to bring together researchers working on physics-based computational modeling and simulation with researchers developing machine learning and AI methods, fostering dialogue between communities that increasingly share scientific and methodological challenges.

The symposium adopts a broad view of computational science, extending beyond traditional physical sciences and engineering to include biology, medicine, and socio-economic systems, wherever advanced computational modeling and data-driven methods play a central role. Its goal is not only to showcase cutting-edge research, but also to help build a shared technical language that can seed new interdisciplinary collaborations.

The event will feature:

  • Contributed (technical) talks bridging computational modeling and ML/AI methods
  • Discussions focused on cross-community methodological challenges
  • Opportunities to foster collaboration and networking across computational science, engineering, and AI
